Basemark® GPU functions as a versatile, multi-platform benchmark designed to evaluate 3D graphics performance across various APIs. It facilitates direct comparisons of graphical capabilities among different smartphones and tablets, and also allows performance benchmarking against notebooks and desktop PCs. The desktop version defaults to executing an AAA-quality, game-like workload, with an option to run a test identical to the mobile version included in the app.

The tool provides users with the ability to benchmark their devices and compare results globally through submission to the Basemark Power Board web service. This feature is available at no cost in the free version; for commercial use requiring a license, users are advised to contact the provider.

To address VSync limitations inherent to mobile devices, Basemark GPU renders each benchmark frame off-screen, displaying only a miniature image during testing. This approach prevents frame drops, ensuring the accuracy of results. For those interested in viewing high-fidelity graphics, selecting Experience Mode is recommended.
